All-time Filipino afternoon snacks and can be seen around the busy streets in the Philippines…its a deep fried sweet potatoes/yam with a coating of caramelized sugar and a top selling snacks together with banana que and turon (banana spring rolls), very affordable and has filling effect because it can make you full for hours! Camote que can also recharge your energy temporarily because of the sugar and carb combined makes one hyperactive. *winks*

Camote que is delicious when hot…I love it and my kids are now lovin’ it!

Ingredients:

1/2 kilo camote (any type) peeled and cut about 2 cms thick.
1/2 cup sugar
cooking oil

Procedure:

Heat the pan and pour the cooking oil and if its heat-up already, put-in the sugar. When the sugar floats, put-in the sweet potato and fry for 7 to 10 minutes. Flip the sweet potato once in a while to allow the sugar to stick. Remove the sweet potato from the pan. Let it cool down for a few minutes then serve.

Note: Camote Que can be put in the skewer or stick, up to your preference or can add some cinnamon for refreshing new twist!
