Last May 25, friends invited us to their niece birthday party…its actually a first month birthday but they are celebrating it big here in Phnom Penh.

In other words, the whole family went to the party and knowing how Khmer celebrate a party…it is always in a grand way, they got everything set and it is usually catered! We easily found the place because of the big tent set-up in the street, we was welcomed with a big arch mentioning the event (which I forgot to take a picture.) and lots of tables where set-up like this…

…but we removed those because our dear host Paul and Somaly made something different for us that night, we wasn’t served with the usual Khmer foods but they served us with different Mexican menus that she used to cooked when she’s still working in a restaurant. And I am excited to try it because K always say she really cooks good Mexican foods. Nothing formal, no presentation needed but its just friends enjoying great foods together…perfect to spend the night!

So, here are the foods that we had that night, she first served us this pizza that she made including the dough and it is really delicious, my kids and us enjoyed it…

…then we had Stuffed Bell Peppers served with cream sauce that come with tomato salsa and sour cream, love it!

We also had big, long and tasty ribs served with delicious bbq sauce…that my kids enjoyed eating and playing.

And for dessert we had Mango Crumble…

But its not yet done…we also had non-Mexican foods as she served us Roasted Duck and a Salad that are both delicious.

And yes, for take home we had this mouthwatering chili con carne…they gave us a big bowl of it together with Mango Crumble. K and I ate it for lunch the next day, we just added some cheese on topped. I had it with rice while mashed potato for K.

It was a great night, great people and great food was just perfect to talked about life in general…

Well, we will be doing it again next time…thanks so much Paul and Somaly for a great night! Cheers…

And linking these mouthwatering foods with Food Trip Friday and Food Friday! :)
