Moving from one country to another was not easy, much more if you have kids to think of…and their schooling! Searching online was the first thing we did, lots of international schools around Bangkok but yes, the tuition and other fees you need to pay are very high…but we’ve listed some possible schools that bit lower than the other and some schools that we are interested with are not publishing their fees online. So, 2 weeks before we moved, K went to Bangkok for a week, to basically fix few things about work and find school and a place to stay.
He went to three different school, like them all but transportation wise, he like the one in Soi 20 the most, well, we are staying in that soi so it will be easy for CJ and me. And the best way to school, I guess, was to walk since traffic here in Bangkok is worst…
Australian International School Bangkok won K’s heart since then but yeah, its above our budget but will see…K talked with the Director and he said its ok if CJ start school late because then we are thinking of finishing one more term in Phnom Penh but sudden twist and turns of event, K comeback to Penh and decided that all of us go at the same time…if we got visa!
The Australian international School of Bangkok (AISB) is a privately owned education facility located in Sukhumvit Soi 20, Bangkok,Thailand. The school was established in 2003 to cater for children aged 18 months to 7 years. It is developing as both an early childhood centre and full primary school in the busy Sukhumvit area.
The Sukhumvit campus provides education for students in Nursery, Kindergarten and Primary years one and two. Our students are drawn from 15 different nationalities.
The Sukhumvit campus will develop as a primary school in gradual stages with year 3 being introduced in 2011, and years 4, 5 and 6 being developed in subsequent years. (Source: AISB Website)
We now here and we’ve decided that CJ’s going to Australian International School Bangkok. A week before CJ will start school, he is late by 3 weeks…we went minus K and get the application forms, etc., the Director toured us around the school. After two days, we went back to passed the application forms and other requirements and yes, buy his uniform.
He started school yesterday, he is very excited, so we are! And we are proud of you!
Ms. Jackie, Year 3 teacher is from Australia while assistant teacher Ms. Rini is from India who’s also a school nurse. His section is Bandicoots and we are happy to see his name included already in things around their room when we first visited even we are not enrolled yet. Anyway, there are 7 student in a class from different countries: Australia, Guatemala/U.S.A., Thailand, India, China and one from Philippines, plus CJ.
mini-library inside their room…there’s a big one!
Since I cannot cook lunch yet for we don’t have kitchen in our room where we are staying right now. We got him enrolled in their Snack/Lunch Food, they have a very healthy and yummy list and they eat here in their dining area…
Monday food was chicken nuggets, penne carbonara, carrot sticks and fruits which sounds so yummy and kids will really get a balance healthy meal everyday. Today, they had egg pork and tofu in brown sauce, brown rice, stir-fried baby corn and carrot, and fruits! Tomorrow it will be chicken teriyaki, sticky rice, mixed salad and fruits. On Thursday, they will have mixed vegetable fried rice, tuna croquette, mixed vegetable soup and fruit; while on Friday they will get noodle soup with red pork and spinach, sweet corn and broccoli and a treat for a week, I guess, ice cream. So, what you think of food? I find it sounds a perfect ‘t meal for a kid. This are all non-vegetarian set but they also offer vegetarian set, school don’t serve or put any nuts on any meals.
Anyway, we come earlier as mentioned in their welcome letter and we got some pictures when they are playing…they’ve got two playgrounds, I bet kids definitely love the facilities around the school. You can check HERE for more of the facilities…
Isabelle enjoyed our visit to the school. We left the school 5 minutes before class starts and we will be going with him inside the school until Wednesday.
I am the one who will bring him to school before 8 in the morning and will pick him up by 2pm…and this is the road facing the school, it is located in a gated-community at the end of Soi 20.
