Have a great week, everyone!

…is another favorite , located at the 5th floor of The Emporium, it is beautifully done and well organized plus more choices for budget friendly meals, its one of the reasons that we love it! Aside from the view that we enjoyed, the place was just relaxing too!

Anyway for you to get started, you need to change your money to a coupon at the Cashier’s/Redemption Booth that are located on both sides going inside the hall, just like other food courts around they are using bought-value coupon system. You can used that coupon to buy food and don’t worry if you have any unused amount after because it can be refunded by just going again to the cashier’s and change it into Baht. So, here’s CJ at the Cashier’s area…

…and here’s how the Food Hall look like!

Lots of choices, different Thai foods…there’s also different kinds of International Cuisines. I will be sharing what we had that day!

Fish Fillet in Garlic and Pepper Sauce with Rice…

Deep Fried Spring Rolls…

Rice Porridge with Pork Meatballs…

Pork with Chili and Basil plus Rice…

The foods are really delicious aside from the fact that its budget-friendly…we are happy with what we had that day! And lastly, here’s Isabelle at the closed-window area over-looking the Benjasiri Park, so I just thought of sharing this…she enjoyed this place but she looked like scared here, isn’t it?  But yes, this area and the library-like area is our favorite!

And from there, you can see our little place where we are staying right now…:) I am linking this post with Wednesday Whites and Thursday Brownies. (I am sorry for I havn’t visited you yet, my internet connection here was slow but yeah, I will be there on your entry sooner than you thought…just late!)

Have a great week, everyone!

Today, we went to The Emporium for our usual weekend run but to our surprised the construction that been going on for weeks now are finally open…and it was about “The Myth of Pandora: Flora and Fauna Exotica 2011″ that will run today, October 7 to 17, 2011.

Its one event you should not miss, kids and kids-at-heart will definitely enjoy going around the amazing mythical forest and be amazed with the wonders beyond imagination and witnessed the exotic flora and fauna from around the world.

There are seven sections around the mall that you will enjoy looking at and these are the following:

  • Amazing Mytical Forest
  • Le Jardin de Fleur
  • Unveil the Secret Paradise
  • The Myth of Pandora
  • The Underwater Wonder
  • The Magnifique Paradise
  • My Organic Gardening

…and they are also giving out young plant to anyone who wants to have one. We get one and we gave it to the hotel staff. They also have gardening workshop that I love to go, will see this coming week if I can. Well, one of the thing they want people to learn is to be inspired to help preserve nature and the environment for generations to come!

Isabelle and CJ had fun…they enjoyed going around the areas. We will be back this week for sure since it is just walking distance from our place.

And here’s me having picture in the big vase of flowers as they welcome you inside the mall…:)

I will be sharing more about this exhibit on my next post as well as sharing some of the animals that we saw, but yeah an Eagle Owl is so lovely but tough one!

Thanks to Kuya CJ for this photo…I’m now carrying the free young plant and we are finally done going around and the rain’s over, we can now walk back home!

It was another great weekend…thanks God for all the blessings!

Have a great week, everyone!

Last September 15, Mexico celebrated Cry of Dolores (Grito de Dolores)…which marked the start of the independence war against Spain on the Eve of September 16, 1810 that took place at a church chapel in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato led by a Creole Catholic Priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. Then made September 16, 2011 as the 201st Mexican Independence Day.

(Belated) Happy Independence Day, Mexico…

Having said all these, I am sharing Mexican food from Sunrise Tacos which we tried before!

Sunrise Tacos is one of the Bangkok’s Mexican Restaurant, it is open 24 hours and do 24 hours delivery. Anyway, we tried this restaurant in 2009 in their Siam Paragon Branch and we found one nearby, just between Soi 12 and 14 in Sukhumvit Road, walking distance from where we are staying…

First order was a coffee, of course, that’s Daddys water…

then we ordered:

Grande Nachos Supreme

Grilled ground sirloin beef on top of a large mountain of crisp homemade tortilla chips, topped with melted monterey jack, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, loaded with black bean, pico de gallo, cilantro, chopped onion, jalapenos and sour cream.

Guacamole

Classic Sunrise Grilled Chicken Burrito

Loaded with season grilled chicken, mexican rice, refried pinto beans, shredded lettuce, cheese and Sunrise salsa topped with Ranchero sauce.

Tacos

Three soft flour tacos with shredded beef, salsa, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and chopped onions.

And they have Kid’s Menu that CJ and Isabelle shared, my little girl is not big eater yet. They got Cheese Quesadilla with Mexican Rice, a slice of  Hot Apple Pie and a Fanta Orange.

Our two lovely kids…

We all enjoy the food, big servings and the staff are friendly too…infact a Filipina waitress is the one serving us and she’s nice. Anyway, they have huge selection of Mexican foods…they even have the one Build Your Own Tacos and Burritos, Kiddie Menu, etc.We will be coming back there for sure…

Have a great weekend, everyone!

In continuation of my post yesterday about how busy the month of September for NaPolCom employees and my last week working with them that I shared HERE

Another event for the month was a NaPolCom Anniversary that falls on September 8 of every year and last 2009, we celebrated the 43rd Anniversary and my last year of working with them physically present (I filed one-year leave that ends with my resignation last September 2010.).

Anyway, that year we have to dressed-up like Fairies and others part of our service was to act that they are attending into a Masquerade Ball…other service have different themes too!

By the way, masquerade ball is an event which the participants attend in costume wearing a mask. So, here are the Fairies flew all the way from the Fairy Land and the attendees of the Masquerade Ball…

(with two of my many kumares and dear friends in CPCS)

And of course, last but not the least…I would like to share a solo picture of me in fairy…hehehe!

It was a day of fun and laughter that I will forever remember plus its my first time to dressed-up like a fairy, hehehe!

Anyway, linking this post eventhough it was not happened on weekend with Colorful Weekend, I am joining for the second time and I hope its still valid! Well, I hope I can join each week…thanks to you dear host!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

September’s the busiest month for NAPOLCOM…I knew how hard it is where we do endless overtime but it was all fun after seeing one event end successfully.

Anyway, 2009 was the last time I went back to work. 2008 when I was on-leave for a year when I first went to Cambodia, come back 2 months before I gave birth…just right time and just perfect timing because one year leave ends, either back to work or resigned. So, at 7 months preggy with Isabelle I am back working with NaPolCom then I had my maternity leave starts 1st of May then went back working again July of 2009…kids and I still in Philippines. But September of 2009, after all the documents get done, we flew back to Phnom Penh, leaving CJ behind but between September 2009 to May 2010, Isabelle and I got a total of 15 international flights…believe it or not, Isabelle was less than a year old then, poor baby, but we need to do it for CJ. Finally, May 2010 when CJ was able to come with us! It was a happy thing that we are really thankful for, God’s been good to me, to us!

Last week at work before I went for another leave in September 2009 was a hectic one, full of activities because its National Crime Prevention Week which Crime Prevention and Coordination Service was in-charge and I was part of CPCS. By the way, filing leave that long was not easy-peasy…it was like I am resigning, I have to turn over everything, get clearance and wait for the approval of the Chairman which that time was Sec. Puno. I need to show a Authority to Travel Abroad every time I am going out of the Philippines.

Anyway here’s the last few days I spend with my workmates, I miss them…sharing few now, will share other activities, next time! hehehe! Its a day with Bantay, the official mascot of NCPW!

During the preparation for the Kick-off Ceremony…one of them was packing some snacks that we will give to those participants…

…and here are the finished products, all packed in a box, ready for distribution at the kick-off ceremony…

…that was attended by these people coming from different sectors of the society and the kick-off was held at the PNP Grounds…

All-in-all it was a great activity…that I will always be proud of being part of it! My NaPolCom experience will always be remembered, for 5 years of being a part of the family brought me to many places around the Philippines. I’ve never thought I will be seeing Aparri up North and down to Zamboaga del Sur in the south, I’ve been to number of places because of working with them and met number of great people from North to South, East to West. Plus the boss that I had then was all helpful, those people are great and I will be forever grateful for being part of CPCS.

September 2010 went I finally choose to let go of my position (its not a big one but yes, its permanent one) after being on-leave between 2008-2010…and its been more than a year now!

Oh, well,I just missed having friends around, hehehe! I miss my workmates, I miss working with them…but yeah, I am happy where I am right now. I know I am in the right place at the right time and God’s want me to be here!

Linking this post with Thursday Brownies and thanks Mommy G for featuring my last week Chocolate White Mocca Cake, very much appreciated!

Have a great week, everyone!

Sharing some packed meals I got from TOPS Supermarket…

Smoked Fish, I love it and its been long time…we finally met each other again!

Though I am not so sure if its “tinapa” but the taste is very much the same, I ate it like there’s no tomorrow, hehehe, with steamed rice! I enjoyed my simple meal!

CJ and Isabelle shared with American Fried Rice…

…then they had Mango Sticky Rice after!

Lastly, some assorted fresh fruits for all of us…

It was a good lunch for me and the kids…I miss eating “tinapa” maybe its about time to get some again, hmmm…yummy!

Have a great week, everyone! :)

October is now here…days are moving so fast, exciting isn’t it? October is the tenth month of the year and that means 2 more months, it will be Christmas. Where we will be this year? We still don’t know but hopefully we can spend it in Philippines! But before thinking about it, CJ and K’s birthday is coming-up in November and December.

Anyway, bit of trivia about October, in common years January starts on the same day of the week as October, but no other month starts on the same day of the week as October in leap years. October ends on the same day of the week as February every year and January in common years only. In leap years, October starts on the same day as August of the previous year.

Well, lots of things we have in mind now and we hope we can accomplish it one by one…God’s been good with us and I thank Him everyday for all the blessings!

Second week  marks our second month here in Bangkok. Daddy will be off to refugee camp by 3rd week for a week, so it will be just me and the kids! CJ will be on school holiday on the last week of the month, that means I will be having some rest or that means I will be working double because two kids in the house?! hehehe!

Anyway, since I’ve been sharing lots of foods here, I want to start this month by sharing this colorful Thai dessert called LOOK CHUP, it is a smashed and sweetened mung bean paste made into cute candies to look like fruit and glazed in sweet candy.

I find this little fruit and vegetable imitation delicious and smells really good…I think it is beautifully done with skillful hand and yeah, I’m sure its healthy.

Lastly, I am wishing all of us a great month ahead…we had a good start, started by having breakfast and walk to the park. Lunch time was at Emporium Mall, Fish Cafe. And yes, we watched a movie after, Cars 2, its our first time as a family to watch one. Isabelle had a great time, she behave so well inside…just kept on saying wow, wow, and wow! Then we went to our favorite bookshop now Kinokuniya, three of them got new books, I am not! Back home walking and stopping to some shops we saw along the way! It was a great day, just time spend with the kids and K made it so special…I love days like this!

Have a great week, everyone!

I am enjoying Thai desserts because it is somehow same with Philippine desserts, made of combination of rice, coconut milk and sugar…and usually very sweet but can adjust it up to the one who’s making it!

For now, I will be sharing something that we got at the fifth floor of Emporium Mall…Jelly with Coconut Cream Topping. A popular and simple Thai jelly topping with coconut cream and can be adjusted into various tastes and colors such as Pandanus leaf-scented, Fruit or Coffee Jelly.

Do you think its delicious? Yes, it is delicious…I actually ate it all, my kids then was just too busy playing at the park but of course, they still have some snacks that I bought when they are done! I am not that bad, hehehe!

Well, as I searched online on how they made it, I found this good recipe from ThaifoodDB, quite similar…

Thai Recipe Ingredients

1. 1 pack (50 grams.) agar-agar Powder

2. 16 cups water

3. 9 cups sugar

4. 1/4 cup concentrate pandanus leaves

5. 2 kg. (to make 5 cups coconut cream) grated coconut meat

6. 1 tbsp. salt

7. 20 pandanus leaves

8. 1 tbsp. rice flour

Thai Sweet Preparations

1. Mix agar-agar and water. Bring to boil until the agar-agar dissolves. Add sugar and 10 pandanus leaves. Boil for another 5 minutes. Strain and set aside.

2. Mix 8 cups of the mixture in step.1 with the topping. Bring to boil. Set aside.

3. Boil the rest of the mixture. Add pandanus-leaf water. Pour into the dried tray (about 3/4 of the tray.)

4. Leave to cool Topping

For topping

1. Mix coconut cream, salt, and rice flour together.

2. Add 8 cups of the prepared jelly mixture (in step 1 for making jelly). Add 10 pandanus leaves. Bring to boil.

3. Pour the topping onto the jelly in the tray. Leave to cool for about 2 hours, then cut into pieces.
